Abstract: A new saponin, named as Congmuyanoside I {3-O-[β-D-glucopyranosyl (1→3)-β-D-glucopyranosyl] caulophyllogenin}, together with three known compounds, Congmuyanoside A, Congmuyenoside B and 3-O-[β-D-glucopyranosyl (1→2)-β-D-glucopyranosyl] hederagenin were isolated in continuing studies on the buds of Aralia elata (Miq.) Seem. The structure of the new saponin was assigned by NMR spectral data using various 2D techniques.
